Guests are free to walk around the grounds of the entire lot and through the entire guest area at any time during their stay. You might enjoy examining the Webster Electric 'Teletalk' intercom system that is hardwired throughout the entire house. There are 3 base stations, one at the head of the stairs, one in the master bedroom and one in the guest living room. All of the bedrooms and the garage have an intercom as well. Although not operational at this time, we plan to renovate the system in the future. The house was designed only for floor heat, however, that was not acceptable to Mr. Elam who demanded that a forced air heating system be added as well. The large 'Kewanee' boilers (there are two of them) and the huge air circulation system are really something to see. The original Hammond organ installed by Elam still remains in the main living room and will be restored as well. Of course, we are sure you will be 'Wowed' by the three floor to ceiling fireplaces that are in the house. Frank Lloyd Wright always liked a good fireplace that the family could relax and unwind by. The next room in the basement is a special treat for the children. Its a ball room with tunnels, jumping trampolines, basketball hoop and many many brightly colored balls. The next room in the basement is for the adults. It's a complete exercise workout room. It includes a treadmill, work out bench, crunch chair, elliptical, and free weights. This room also has a queen size murphy bed and doubles as another legal bedroom. The basement also has one of the 7 bathrooms. Going up the open wood staircase to the upper level the first room you reach is the master bedroom with a king size Cleopatra style bed. The balcony has spectacular views of the yard and Lake Francis. The attaching full master bath has double sinks, a makeup settee and a large Jacuzzi tub. Down the hall from there is the blue room which has a wood carved king bed with an attaching full bath and it's own balcony. Just further down the hall way is a another up north themed king bedroom with another breath taking view of Lake Francis off it's balcony and an attaching full bathroom. Next to that bedroom is a smaller bedroom with a queen bed. A whole new world is at the end of the hall in the west wing. A second living room or great room with three bedrooms adjoining it. One is a king with bunk beds.. The second is a queen with a crib. The third is a king bed. The cabana or guest house is a full cabin with a kitchen, full bath, and bedroom with a double bottom bunk and a top single bunk. The yard is a wonderful game place. Available games are Bean Bags(Corn Hole), Polish Golf, Hammer Schlogan, Beers Bee, Crockett, Boccie Ball and Ring Toss. Near by snowmobile trails make this a winter haven. Ice fishing is fantastic on Lake Francis! There are many winter activities around the area such as Ice fishing, snowmobiling, ice skating, cross country skiing and sledding. Down hill skiing is 20 miles away at Mount Kato. During the summer the lake offers fishing, skiing, tubing, boating, swimming and much more. The state bicycle trail goes right through town and two adult bikes and four children's are furnished. There is a canoe and 2 kayaks available for use. Remember to wear your life jackets. A playground owned by the lake association is next door. Relax on one of the 4 decks. Grill on the gas or charcoal smoker grill. Fry up your fresh fish in the outdoor or indoor deep fryers. Have a campfire and roast some marshmallows at the fire pit. Wood is provided. Relax in the screen porch and enjoy the propane fire pit. The small town of Elysian is one mile away. HOME OF THE GRAND MADISON LAKE PADDLE FISH State of Minnesota issued a seizure permit #202888 for us to be able to keep the skull and a replica of the fish. This skeleton of a paddle fish washed up on Madison Lake beach in 1989. From this skeleton the folks at Shedd Aquarium in Chicago and the Missouri Game and Fish department provided their best estimate of weight over 100 lbs, length 68 inches, and age approximately 35 years old. Paddle fish are plankton eaters with no teeth and are harmless to humans and illegal to catch in Minnesota. Lots of off street parking for all your water toys! 150 lineal feet of sandy beach with over hanging willow trees to hold the pan fish close for shore fishing. We are in the process of building a sand box for when the water levels are high and our beach is under water. Our fish cleaning shed with screens, light, and water as well as a space to keep your gear locked up over night (bring your own padlock) is now finished! We have two boating docks available! The boat ramp is a short drive around the bay to the south. For our fellow artists we have set up a bright classroom area facing Madison Lake. It has 12 desks with easels and brush holders, drawing boards, and a grand instructors oak easel, storage cabinet, extra folding chairs and stools all looking toward the lake. The house has 4 levels and guests have access to most areas including the kitchen and laundry room. The private bedroom looks out over the river. The "guest only" bathroom has a shower, toilet and sink. We call our place Mantorville Farms because that is the name of the book publishing business we operate out of the house. You can walk out to the main deck from your bedroom. Walk along the deck and down the stairs to the river's shore. We're making trails along the river so you can see Minnesota nature at it's best. There is a gas grill on the dining room deck and in the large kitchen you will have your own cupboard. Our multi-level home has many stairways and you will have to use a stairway to get to your bedroom. We have a Queen size bed in your room along with large goose down pillows. Thick cotton bath robes are available for you to use during your stay. Guests have access to all areas of the main level. This main level includes the kitchen, guest bathroom, living room, dining room and laundry room. The guest bedroom is located on the first level. The third level is above the main level. The third level is not available to guests, but you can pass through it to get to the fourth level. The fourth level has a small reading nook and also provides access to a large roof top deck that overlooks the river valley. Guests have full use of the fourth level. I do not allow any pets to stay here because I have a 2 year old German Shepherd. Zeus has access to the house 24/7, but he spends most of his time outside where he has 5 acres to roam and run in. I adopted Zeus in August of 2019 and he has adapted to his new environment. If you have experience with large dogs, you will get along fine with Zeus. If you are uncomfortable around large dogs, I would not stay here. Zeus can sense human weakness. So if he feels dominant over you, he will constantly pester you to play with him.

This newly remodeled (in 2019) cabin/house sits on a 30-acre hobby farm that provides views of a 4-acre pond, cattle and chickens grazing, a Christmas tree farm, hay fields, orchard, and plenty of wildlife. 12 easy miles to Mankato, 6 miles to Lake Crystal, and 15 to Madelia MN, is easily accessible off of HWY 169. The cabin is great for a family vacation, girls/guys weekend. This is a very private location is close to lakes, bike trails, rivers, Minneopa State Park, Mount Kato Ski/Mt Bike, shopping, restaurants, local breweries, and wineries. The cabin has 3 bedrooms and a loft. 1 king bed in main floor bedroom along with a TV, upstairs bedrooms have one bedroom with 1 queen bed, second bedroom with 2 full-sized beds. Loft has 2 single beds and 1 full bed.
